Designed to provide you with in-depth practical experience with the relevant skills and tools you need to succeed in today's rapidly moving Digital Marketing workplace.
The academic portion of the program is 24 weeks full-time, outside of regular business hours. The remaining 24 weeks of the program is a paid work experience.
In this program, you will learn to approach digital marketing decisions with a creative, data-driven, and flexible mindset to yield tangible gains for a wide variety of organizations and clients. Working in a team-based environment, you will set up collaborative workflows and communicate with your clients, designers and potential employers. Throughout the program, you will be given the opportunity to network and build connections with hiring partners and professionals. Plus be introduced to your field and gain the skills necessary to work in technical teams in an agency, in-house, start-up, corporate or freelance environment. By the end of the program, you will have developed a robust portfolio to jump-start your career.
Working with our Community Partners on Real Projects you will get practical hands-on experience in Website and Content Management, Marketing Strategy, Online Brand Strategy, CRO and A/B Testing, SEO and SEM, Social Media Management and Advertising.
Digital Marketing Strategy
Develop an end-to-end digital marketing strategy considering the buyer’s journey and company goals to reach overall business objectives.
Design and develop the aspects of what makes a great brand: personality, values, definition, promise, visual identity and brand storytelling.
Google Analytics & Tag Manager
Learn how to implement Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to apply fundamental concepts like performance measurement, comparison and optimization.
Build ad strategies that attract and generate customers through account optimization, bidding strategies and compelling ad copy.
Build an email marketing strategy and learn how to increase open rates and engagement to run effective email marketing campaigns for clients.
Content Creation & Strategy
Plan, develop, and manage a content strategy for a client, and learn how to track a develop your strategy over time.
Learn how to attract users to download and engage with a mobile app. Create an app trailer to serve as multi-purpose content to be used across various channels.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Understand on-page, off-page and technical SEO practices and how to best implement these strategies across different types of websites.
Understand the buyer’s journey and develop a lead generation strategy including content, email and workflow optimization.
Social Media Management & Advertising
Understand how to manage multiple social media platforms to achieve specific business objectives, and the fundamentals of advertising on major social platforms.
Lisa is a strategic marketing professional with a passion for entrepreneurship, the digital world and a great brand story. With over six years experience driving tactical and strategic marketing projects, her specialties lie within brand management, digital marketing, automation and analytics. Lisa thrives off of out-of-the-box thinking, bursts of creativity and watching businesses grow. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and all sports. You can catch her kicking a soccer ball around any chance she gets.
Rowan is a digital marketing expert with a passion for data, technology and optimization. With over five years experience in London and Canadian agencies, Rowan has worked with some huge international clients such as Hilton and Ralph Lauren. He also continues to work freelance alongside teaching at RED. Rowan has a keen attention to detail and delights in finding trends and anomalies to exploit or fix. He loves to be outdoors: be it snowboarding or biking in the mountains, climbing or just hiking around the North Shore. He probably should know better, but can’t resist the opportunity to jump off stuff when the opportunity arises.
Haidee is a digital strategist who brings nearly ten years of marketing experience to RED Academy. She graduated with a BA from Simon Fraser University in Criminology and English, where she developed sharp analytical skills and linguistic finesse. Though Haidee has worked in all areas of digital marketing, her expertise is in content marketing, digital storytelling and branding. She is driven by creating innovative content that captivates and resonates with people. When she’s not working, Haidee is sleeping. Haidee enjoys a good nap.

You will be given time to work with your team on client projects. It’s during that time that instructors, mentors and TAs will be available to give you guidance and feedback on your work.

Technical skills and knowledge are one thing, but the reality is that soft-skills are really what will make you a key member of any team. Creativity, empathy and collaboration are the themes we focus on in our PPD program.
Peer & Instructor Feedback
Peer evaluation is a tremendously effective way to not only gain the skills required to assess the quality of a team member’s work, but also to learn how to receive and articulate constructive feedback to them.

Career Support & Development
You will receive support throughout your job search process. The Career Support Team advises on job opportunities, introduces students to the RED hiring network and provides coaching during the interview and negotiation process. You are also given continual support from your instructors. This includes connecting industry professionals and providing references to potential employers. The Digital Marketing roles outlined below are most commonly available to students as an internship position but are not limited to these roles:
Digital Marketing Coordinator/Strategist
Developing, implementing and optimizing digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels including organic, paid and earned tactics.
Social Media Coordinator/Strategist
Creating and curating social content, engaging with the community, monitoring trending conversations and measuring success metrics.
Creating and executing a SEO strategy to improve search rankings and build stronger brand visibility including on page, off page and technical efforts.
Paid Advertising Coordinator/Strategist
Building online advertising strategies to drive results for your business including search, display, remarketing, video and social media ad campaigns.
